Dr. Susan Bueno awarded as “Woman Inventor 2024”
At BMRC we are proud to accompany Dr. Susan Bueno to the ceremony at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) where the researcher was recognized with the Woman Inventor 2024 award.
This recognition, which is awarded every April 26 each year for World Intellectual Property Day, aims to highlight researchers who have a relevant role in topics about protection of results, industrial property and technology transfer. In the case of Dr. Bueno, the authorities awarded her outstanding career as a researcher in infectious diseases and her important role in public health.
Dr. Bueno thanks the Catholic University, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and all the sources of funding that have supported her work for this award, such as the IMII, Technological Consortium in Biomedicine (BMRC), CORFO, ANID and Copec-UC Foundation, and all the collaborative work between academics in Biological Sciences and Medicine. But she also highlights students who work side by side with her in the Microbial Pathogenesis Laboratory.
“My message is for all young people and especially for those women who are starting out in their work: believe in your ideas and your results. Think from the beginning about how your research can become a tool to help people,” said Dr. Bueno.
